Biography
Norlene Wolfe was born in Kansas.
She studied Art History at Wichita State University and enrolled in studio art classes, falling in love with the creative process. Painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture became new obsessions.
During a thirty-four year career as Art Curator for a private collection in Houston, Texas, painting and photography was part of life. She has shown her work at McKinley and Henrion Exhibit Centers at Wichita State University, Women’s Caucus for The Arts, Women In The Visual and Literary Arts, Southerland Road Gallery, The Artery, Houston Vineyard Fellowship, Marty McCall Festival, and October Gallery in Houston.
Artwork in Private Collections: Bainbridge Island, WA; Boulder, CO; Chicago, IL; Capitan, NM; Houston, TX; Portland, OR; Richmond, VA; and Paris France.
Retired from curating, she works six months in her Houston studio, six months in her Chicago studio, and travels.
In Houston the painting palette is bright with color reflecting the tropical floral landscapes. In Chicago the studio overlooks Lake Michigan where the visual trajectory is changing light and sky depicting atmospheric conditions. Canvases are created through alchemical experiments.
